Race Information – Carlisle Triathlon  

Time/Date 

 First wave ?? - Sunday 7th August 2010  

Location  

Morton School, Wigton Road, Carlisle, Cumbria  

Facilities  

Toilets for both male/female are available. There will be no indoor spectators for the swim heats therefore wet weather clothing may be required. Light refreshments will be available to purchase. 

Parking  

Parking will be inside and outside the school grounds. However please note that if you park on the triathlon route within the grounds you may be held up getting your car out if the race is still underway. 

Registration  

Open from ?? to ?? at the entry tent. BTF members MUST show their licence or pay a levy.  

Course  

The event uses a mixture of quiet country roads which are generally flat or gently undulating. The road surfaces are generally excellent but there are rougher areas especially near some of the junctions. Caution should be taken at all turns. Swim waves will be grouped according to ability with the first wave starting at ??. Waves will be in groups of twelve. You will be given a start time at the pre-race briefing and it will be printed on the information board. It is your responsibility to be present 10 minutes prior to your wave start time. 

Cycle  

The bike route is a 20Km course with two right hand turns; marshals must be obeyed at all times. Anyone failing to follow the marshal’s instruction will be disqualified.See link for map of route http://www.mapmyride.com/route/gb/carlisle/837124727073274160 

Run  

The run route is a circular 5km route using mainly footpaths and quiet country roads.The start and finish are in the school grounds. Risk Assessment  

A full course risk assessment will be on display at the event HQ on race morning together with details of the liability insurance and British Triathlon registration. Hard shell helmets conforming to the appropriate British safety Standard are compulsory.   

Race Safety Briefing  

The race briefing is mandatory (??) during which key safety points will be covered.  

Prizes 

Prize presentation will occur as soon after the last competitor has finished.  Prizes will be awarded for the following (subject to entries): -  1^st 2^nd 3^rd Male/Female Open. + 1^st 2^nd 3^rd Male/Female Vet Category1^st 2^nd 3^rd Male/Female Super Vet Category
